Mike Moffatt

Mike is an economist and lecturer at The Richard Ivey School of Business located at the University of Western Ontario. He teaches courses on the "Global Environment of Business" that deal with economic performance, exchange rates, political risk and international trade. Mike's academic research is in the areas of optimal pricing, taxation, exchange rates and free-market environmental policy.

Mike has been interviewed on a variety of economics and business topics by many national and international media outlets, including the National Post, La Presse (Montreal), CBC Radio International, Financial Post, and the Toronto Sun.

Experience:

Mike has studied economics at four different universities in three countries, has taught economics at both the university and community college level.

Mike is also a private-sector economic and regulatory consultant for Nexreg Compliance which assists corporations in developing and implementing cost-effective strategies to comply with health, safety and environmental legislation.

Education:

Mike is working towards a Doctoral degree in Business Administration at the The Richard Ivey School of Business and plans on defending his thesis Modelling Price Competition in Oligopolistic Industries in 2008. He holds Honours B.A. degrees in Political Science and Economics from the University of Western Ontario, a Masters Degree in Economic Theory from the University of Rochester, and has done graduate work at Queen's University at Kingston. Mike has won a number of academic awards, including a gold medal for Political Science and Economics from the University of Western Ontario for being the top graduating student in his class.
